Sunnyvale Fire and Rescue

Sunnyvale Fire Chaplaincy
| Friends of the Gideons invited Fr. Brown to accompany them on a Bible presentation at Sunnyvale Volunteer Fire Department. After that introduction, a series of conversations with Chief Plumlee and Assistant Chief Mackey ensued. Subsequently, the membership voted to invite Fr. Brown to join the department as their Chaplain. |

Fr. Brown had served as a Fire Chaplain in his previous parish, and had helped out as a volunteer chaplain with the Richardson Police on a part time basis, so the opportunity to once again serve a neighborhood fire department appealed to him.
"Hanging out with these guys is one of the ways I recharge my batteries for the ministry of the parish," Fr. Brown said, "and with the number and type of calls they make, there is a valid need here."

The Sunnyvale Fire Department (www.townofsunnyvale.org/index.aspx?NID=78) is a full-service, combination department, staffed by professional Firefighters and EMT’s, as well as local citizen volunteers, 24 hours each day, 7 days per week to provide emergency response services within the Town of Sunnyvale. Inquiries about volunteer service opportunities should be directed to the department non-emergency number: (972) 226-1484.
